Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about our courses, subscriptions, and the inburgering exam.
Course & Platform
Is this material up-to-date with the 2024 exam requirements?
Yes. We constantly monitor changes from DUO and update our practice materials to reflect the latest exam formats, question types, and content for all sections (Reading, Listening, Writing, Speaking, and KNM).
Is this platform suitable for absolute beginners?
Yes. If you're just starting with Dutch, begin with our A1 materials to build a solid foundation before moving on to A2 and higher levels.
How realistic are your practice exercises?
All tasks follow the official DUO specifications. You'll see the same formats, timing, and scoring criteria used in the real exam, so nothing will surprise you on test day.
Can I use the site just to learn Dutch, not only for the exam?
Absolutely. Besides exam-style tasks, we offer reading, listening, speaking, writing exercises and flashcards that help you progress from A1 to B2.
Can I try some exercises for free?
Yes. Scroll to the free section on our home page to practice listening, speaking, reading, writing and KNM without signing up.
Subscription & Billing
What is your refund policy?
You can request a refund within 14 days of first purchasing a subscription. Go to your Account page, choose "Change subscription", then click "Request refund".
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open your Account page, select "Change subscription" and then "Cancel subscription". Your access stays active until the end of the current billing period.
What are the subscription commitment requirements?
We offer flexible options: Monthly plans have no commitment (cancel anytime), 6-month plans require a 6-month commitment, and 12-month plans require a 12-month commitment. You can choose between monthly payments or paying upfront for better rates. During your commitment period, you can cancel early but will still need to pay for the remaining months. After your commitment ends, you can cancel anytime, just like our monthly plan.
Integration Law & Requirements
Which 'Wet inburgering' applies to me?
This depends on when you received your integration obligation. If you got your obligation before 1 January 2022, you follow the 2013 law (A2 level). From 1 January 2022 onwards, the 2021 law applies (B1 route). Note: Not everyone needs to integrate—this mainly applies to non-EU migrants and family reunification cases. Check with your municipality or the IND for your specific situation.
I'm following the B1 route. Which exams do I need to pass?
Under the 2021 law you must pass six components at B1 level: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing, KNM and MAP (the new name for ONA).
How long does it take to go from A0 to B1?
With about six hours of study per week most learners reach A2 in roughly six months and B1 in another seven months—about 1.5 years in total.
Exam Results & Certification
How long are my exam results valid?
Results remain valid for one year, but we recommend completing all parts within nine months to avoid retakes.
I already passed the basic exam abroad. Do I still have to integrate in the Netherlands?
Yes. The basic exam is at a lower level and does not replace the integration requirements in the Netherlands.
Are A2 and B1 diplomas valid forever?
At the moment A2 and B1 diplomas are valid indefinitely as long as legislation doesn't change retroactively.
When will I receive my results and diploma?
KNM results arrive in two to six weeks, Reading and Listening often faster. Writing and Speaking can take up to four to five weeks. Your diploma is usually issued the day after your last result is published.
