How to use this workbook

Run this as a 30-minute timed session: set a phone timer, record each answer for up to one minute, and don't go back. Record your own answer first; only check the example after you've finished a question. Score with the 2-point rubric in two passes — one for the 10 spoken questions, one for the 12 sentence completions.

  • Record one answer for each question.
  • You have up to 1 minute for every answer.
  • Part 1: answer the spoken question.
  • Part 2: look at the picture and complete the sentence start.
  • Do not write a full script before recording. Say a short clear answer.

How answers are scored

Each item is worth 2 points, split across two criteria: adequacy (does the answer fit the question or picture?) and pronunciation (can a trained listener understand it?). The rule to remember is that pronunciation only counts when adequacy scores at least 1 — if your answer is off-topic, pronunciation automatically drops to 0 for that item. Aim for 34/44 across the full set as your study target.
