My experience: this is how the inburgeringsexamen works at DUO

Last month I took two exams: Reading and Listening. Passed both. This is what I learned. Maybe it helps you.

Registering

  • Log in to Mijn Inburgering with your DigiD. Choose a date and a location.
  • Each exam costs 50 euros. You pay online immediately.
  • Register early. Sometimes it takes more than 6 weeks before you can take your exam.
  • Need another date? You can do that up to 1 week before the exam. Then you will get your money back.

The letter

1 week before the exam you will receive a letter from DUO. It states the date, time and location. The letter also contains the rules.

The exam day

  • Bring a valid ID. For example your passport or your residence document. Without a valid ID you are not allowed to take the exam. Then you have to register again.
  • Arrive on time. For me the exam was on the computer. It was quiet.

The result

Within 8 weeks you will receive a letter with the result. You can also see the result in Mijn Inburgering.

Recognizable. At my location, my phone also had to go in a locker. Take only what you need with you and check your identity document again the evening before.
