Ukrainian diploma and IDW evaluation — what was your experience?
Work & careersHi everyone! I have a bachelor diploma in economics from Ukraine. Here I work part-time in a warehouse, which is fine for now, but I want to find something closer to my education. Everyone tells me: first get your diploma evaluated.
So I looked at idw.nl (Internationale Diplomawaardering). From what I understand, you make an account on Mijn IDW, upload your documents digitally, and they compare your study programme with the Dutch educational system. The site also says that if you got the letter from DUO about your inburgering obligation, you can request one diplomawaardering for free — but only before you get your inburgering diploma. I have that letter, so I want to apply now, not after my exams.
My questions for people who already did this:
- How long did it take in reality? The website warns that processing times are longer at the moment.
- Did you need official translations of your diploma, or were scans in Ukrainian enough?
- Most important: did the evaluation actually help with job applications? Did employers look at it?
Collecting documents from Ukraine is a bit stressful for me, so I want to be sure it is worth it. Thank you!
