Official A2 practice exams on Inburgeren.nl
DUO (Dutch education service) lists 15 official A2 practice exams for inburgering (civic integration) on its Inburgeren.nl practice page (External site, opens in a new tab). There are 3 writing PDFs and 12 online mocks for speaking, listening, reading and Kennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij (KNM, knowledge of Dutch society). DUO recommends a desktop computer. Use a browser other than Safari for speaking practice.

Your required A2 exam parts
Your required inburgeringsexamen (civic integration exam) parts depend on the integration law that applies to you (External site, opens in a new tab). Under the Wet inburgering 2021 (Civic Integration Act 2021), your gemeente (municipality) records your route and required exams in your persoonlijk plan inburgering en participatie (PIP, personal integration and participation plan). You can also see them in Mijn Inburgering (My Integration, DUO's online portal) (External site, opens in a new tab). Under the Wet inburgering 2013 (Civic Integration Act 2013), your required parts depend on when your integration duty began. Mijn Inburgering shows which exams you need.

Official A2 Schrijven practice: three PDFs
In the real Schrijven (writing) exam, you may write a short letter or fill in a form. The exam lasts 40 minutes and has four tasks. You use pen and paper. Official A2 Spreken practice: three online mocks
In the real Spreken (speaking) exam, you watch videos and answer questions in Dutch. The exam is a 35-minute computer exam. See DUO's A2 language-exam formats and durations (External site, opens in a new tab).
Official A2 Luisteren practice: three online mocks
In the real Luisteren (listening) exam, you answer questions about videos and spoken texts. The exam is a 45-minute computer exam. Use headphones or speakers that let you hear each clip clearly during practice. See DUO's A2 language-exam formats and durations (External site, opens in a new tab).
Official A2 Lezen practice: four online mocks
In the real Lezen (reading) exam, you read texts and answer questions. The exam is a 65-minute computer exam. Complete one mock without study notes. Note which text and question types take the most time. See DUO's A2 language-exam formats and durations (External site, opens in a new tab).
Official KNM practice: two online mocks
The real KNM exam has themes such as wonen (housing) and werk en inkomen (work and income). You answer questions within each theme. The exam is a 45-minute computer exam. A practice plan for the official A2 mocks
Keep at least one official mock unused until the final stage. Use it after you have studied the gaps from your first attempt.
- Take one official mock for each required part.
- Record the tasks, words and instructions that slowed you down.
- Work on one recorded gap with a skill summary, focused exercises and regular Dutch study.
- Take a different official mock on a desktop computer.
- Compare the same problem areas with your first attempt.

If one part slows you down, use its free summary or exercises. Then try a different official mock. Keep one mock unused for that later check.
