When will DUO (Dutch education service) send my exam result?

The labour-market orientation row also includes the portfolio check and the wait for an interview. For A2 speaking and writing, DUO’s delay notice of 31 July 2026 (External site, opens in a new tab) gives a longer wait than its general results page.

Example: if you took A2 reading on 1 October 2026, the 8-week window ends on 26 November 2026. For A2 writing on the same date, the current 16-week window ends on 21 January 2027. People who take A2 speaking or writing on the same day can receive their results at different times, according to DUO.

DUO’s delay notice gives an automatic 6-month extension if you are near your integration deadline and still waiting for A2 speaking or writing results. You do not need to apply. DUO sends you a letter if you receive the extension. Check that letter for your new deadline.

For NT2, the official exam schedule (External site, opens in a new tab) gives the result date. You can check Mijn DUO from 15:00 that day. For example, the Programma II (B2 programme) schedule (External site, opens in a new tab) lists 27 October 2026 as the result date for the speaking exam on 6 October 2026. Dates can change. Check the schedule again.

DUO’s three waits for the ONA interview route total up to 20 weeks. The portfolio check takes up to 6 weeks. The interview takes place within 6 weeks of your application. The result letter comes within 8 weeks after the interview. Apply for the interview after DUO approves your portfolio. Add the time you take to apply for the interview. A rejected portfolio needs another check of up to 6 weeks and a new interview application. Start well before your inburgering (civic integration) deadline.

Use the service for the exam you took:

• For A1 abroad, watch for an email or letter from DUO. The emailed PDF shows which parts you passed. If you gave your sponsor’s email address when registering, DUO also emails them the result.
• For A2 and KNM, log in to Mijn Inburgering with DigiD. DUO also sends your result by letter. Check Mijn Inburgering while you wait for the result letter.
• For ONA, DUO emails the portfolio result after payment if you submitted online. If you submitted by post, DUO sends a letter. The interview result appears in Mijn Inburgering and comes by letter within 8 weeks.
• For NT2, log in to Mijn DUO with DigiD. DUO also sends your result by email and post to the address you gave when registering. Without DigiD, you receive the result by email and post only.

Use the score or pass decision in your official result. Each exam has its own rule:

• A1 abroad: you pass the whole exam with at least 6 out of 10 for each of the 3 parts, according to Naar Nederland (To the Netherlands) exam information (External site, opens in a new tab).
• A2 and KNM: DUO’s exam-results page (External site, opens in a new tab) does not give a pass percentage for A2 or KNM. Use your official pass or fail decision in Mijn Inburgering or the DUO letter rather than unofficial online scoring advice.
• NT2: you pass each part with a score of 500 or higher, according to the official NT2 scoring rules (External site, opens in a new tab).
• ONA: you need an approved portfolio and either a passed interview or a completed 64-hour ONA course.
• Module Arbeidsmarkt en Participatie (MAP, Labour Market and Participation Module) and Participatieverklaringstraject (PVT, participation declaration process): your gemeente handles these activities. Ask it about completion rather than waiting for a scored language-exam result.

The 64-hour ONA course must be at a school on DUO’s linked school list. The school reports your hours to DUO. If you submit the portfolio by post, you must use the interview route. See DUO’s ONA requirements (External site, opens in a new tab).

For NT2, you can download a uittreksel (official digital extract) for a passed part from Mijn diploma’s. You receive the NT2 diploma after all 4 parts. The 2026 NT2 exam regulations (External site, opens in a new tab) set out these documents.

For an inburgeringsdiploma (civic integration diploma), choose “Diploma” in Mijn Inburgering to open Mijn diploma’s. The diploma and certificate guide explains which proof to use for your route.

If you passed all A1 parts abroad, send the result PDF with your machtiging tot voorlopig verblijf (MVV, provisional residence permit) application. The Immigratie en Naturalisatiedienst (IND, Immigration and Naturalisation Service) (External site, opens in a new tab) gives you 1 year after passing to apply. Use the action for the exam or step you failed:

• A1 abroad: retake only the part or parts you failed. Register and pay for those parts again.
• A2 and KNM: register through Mijn Inburgering. If you cannot log in, use the form on DUO’s exam registration page (External site, opens in a new tab). For the booking process, see A2 exam results and resits.
• ONA portfolio: adjust it and submit it again if DUO rejects it. DUO checks the revised portfolio again before you apply for the interview.
• ONA interview: if you fail or cancel too late, submit your portfolio again, pay again and take a new interview. You can email DUO to ask why you failed.

If repeated failures leave little time before your integration deadline, read what to do after failing several times. It explains extra time, route changes and adapted exams. Check which options apply to you before booking again.

If the waiting period in the table has passed, follow these steps. For NT2, use the scheduled result date and check after 15:00.

1. Check the service listed for your exam in the table. For A1 abroad, check your result email or letter.
2. Check your email spam folder.
3. Confirm that your email and postal address are current.
4. Contact DUO if you still have no result. Give your exam details and explain when you took the exam.

For A2, KNM or ONA, use DUO’s integration contact page (External site, opens in a new tab). Have your burgerservicenummer (BSN, citizen service number) ready. If you are still within your exam’s waiting period, check the listed service. If that period has passed and your result is missing, follow the contact steps above. After a failed part, check the resit rules for that exam before booking.

If you are near your integration deadline and still waiting for A2 speaking or writing results, check DUO’s letter about the automatic 6-month extension. If you passed all A1 parts abroad, apply for the MVV within 1 year so you avoid having to retake the whole exam.
