For Staatsexamen NT2, your result date is shown in the official exam schedule. On that date the result is available from 15:00 in Mijn DUO if you can log in with DigiD. DUO also sends the result by email and post. You pass a component with a score of 500 or higher. If you pass all four components, DUO sends the Staatsexamen NT2 diploma to your home address. If you fail one component, you may register again for that component only after the result is known.
When do NT2 results come and when can you resit?
Check the Programma I or Programma II exam schedule for the exact result date. The online result is available from 15:00 in Mijn DUO, and DUO also sends the result by email and post. A score of 500 or higher means you passed that component. If you failed, wait until the result is known, then register again for that same component.
Key Points
- The NT2 schedule gives the exact online result date for each exam date and component.
- Results are available in Mijn DUO from 15:00 on that date when you log in with DigiD.
- If you do not have DigiD, DUO says you receive the result only by email and post.
- Lezen and Luisteren are assessed by computer. Schrijven and Spreken are assessed by two trained assessors.
- You need a score of at least 500 to pass a component.
- After passing one component, you can request a certificate extract in Mijn diploma's.
- After passing all four components, DUO sends the NT2 diploma automatically.
- You cannot book a resit for a component while you are still waiting for that component's result.
Where to Check Your Result
Start with the official NT2 schedule. It has a column called uitslag online vanaf 15.00 uur, which means the result is online from 15:00. Do not use a general five-week estimate if the schedule gives a specific date for your component.
- Log in to Mijn DUO with DigiD on the result date after 15:00.
- Check the email address you used when you registered for the exam.
- Watch your post at the address you gave during registration.
- If you moved house, check whether DUO has your current address before assuming the result is missing.
- If you cannot use DigiD, wait for the email and postal result route instead of trying to use Mijn DUO.
How the NT2 Score Works
The official NT2 score is not a school grade from 1 to 10. The points you get on the exam are converted into a score. For every component, 500 is the border: 500 or higher is passed, lower than 500 is failed.
| Situation | What it means | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Score 500 or higher | You passed that component. | Keep the result and continue with any remaining components. |
| Score below 500 | You did not pass that component. | Register again after the result is known. |
| One passed component | You can prove that part separately. | Request a certificate extract in Mijn diploma's if you need proof. |
| All four components passed | You completed the NT2 diploma for that programme. | DUO sends the diploma automatically to your home address. |
Retaking a Failed Component
Herkansen means retaking an exam. For NT2, you retake only the component you failed. You do not need to repeat components you already passed. The important rule is timing: you may not register for a new exam for that component before the result has been published.
- Wait until DUO has published or sent the result for the failed component.
- Check the next Programma I or Programma II schedule for available dates.
- Register again for the same component through the normal DUO route.
- Use the score information to decide what to practise, but do not treat a near miss as a guarantee that the next exam will be easy.
- If the failed component blocks an inburgering deadline, also check your DUO letter, gemeente plan or extension options.
Diploma, Certificates, and Uittreksel
A passed component and a full NT2 diploma are different. Passing Lezen alone, for example, is useful, but it is not the same as having the complete diploma. DUO says the diploma is sent automatically after you pass all four parts: Lezen, Luisteren, Schrijven and Spreken.
- A certificate proves that you passed one NT2 component.
- A diploma proves that you passed all four components of Programma I or Programma II.
- An uittreksel is an official DUO extract that you can download from Mijn diploma's.
- The NT2 diploma and certificates are valid without an expiry date.
- For IND, school or employer use, check which proof they ask for before sending documents.
Next Steps
If you need to book another exam, use the Staatsexamen NT2 registration guide. If you are preparing for the next sitting, check the NT2 exam-day rules. For proof after passing, read the diploma, certificates and uittreksel guide. For a broader comparison with A1 and A2 result timelines, use the inburgering results timeline.
