Use Mijn Inburgering to register for A2 language exams, KNM and most ONA steps. Log in with DigiD, check which exams DUO expects from you, then choose the date and place. Register early because DUO says it can take more than 6 weeks before you can take an exam. B1/B2 Staatsexamen NT2 uses MijnDUO, and MAP or PVT goes through your gemeente.
How do you register for an A2 inburgering exam?
For A2 speaking, listening, reading, writing and KNM, log in to Mijn Inburgering and choose the exam date and place. For ONA, use Mijn Inburgering when your route requires a portfolio step or appointment. If you cannot log in, use the official DUO form. After registration, keep the confirmation and wait for the oproepbrief with the final place, date and time.
Key Points
- Check Mijn Inburgering first. It shows which exams you must do and which language level applies.
- A2 language exams and KNM are booked by choosing a date and place in Mijn Inburgering.
- ONA is only for people under Wet inburgering 2013 or voluntary inburgering; some ONA steps also use Mijn Inburgering.
- Register early. DUO says it can take more than 6 weeks before you can sit the exam.
- For A2 exams, you can change the date or place up to 1 week before the exam.
- If you cancel an A2 exam up to 1 week before the exam, DUO says you can get your money back.
- If you cannot log in, do not wait until the last day. Use the official DUO form route.
Before You Book, Check Your DUO File
A common mistake is booking the exam you want instead of the exam DUO expects. Open Mijn Inburgering and check your personal exam overview. Look for the level, the exam names and any notes from your gemeente or PIP. If your PIP says B1 but you want to take A2, check the rules with your gemeente or DUO before paying, especially if you hope to use free attempts or a loan.
If the portal itself is confusing, read the Mijn Inburgering guide first. For the broader route comparison, use the general registration guide.
Book A2, KNM or ONA in Mijn Inburgering
For A2 and KNM, the normal route is short: log in, choose the exam, choose the place and date, then follow the payment screen. DUO sends a confirmation by email and by letter after registration. If you register through Mijn Inburgering, you can also see the exam date in the portal.
- Log in to Mijn Inburgering with DigiD.
- Open the exam registration section and choose the A2 language exam, KNM or ONA step you need.
- Choose an available place and date. Do not assume every location has every date.
- Choose how you will pay, or choose payment from your DUO loan if the portal shows that option for you.
- Save the confirmation. One week before an A2 exam, DUO sends a letter with the place, date and time.
Payment, Loan, and Free-Attempt Checks
As of the May 2026 source check, each A2 language exam costs EUR 50 and KNM costs EUR 50. ONA costs EUR 40 for people who still need ONA under Wet inburgering 2013 or voluntary inburgering. Some candidates can pay from a DUO loan; for A2 and knowledge exams, choose payment from the loan in Mijn Inburgering. If you register with a paper form, tick the option that says you want to pay with the loan.
Do not guess about money. Free attempts, loans and who pays depend on your law route and status. If payment is the unclear part, check the costs and loans guide before booking extra attempts.
Changing, Cancelling, or Booking Without Login
If you booked an A2 exam and cannot go, act before the 1-week deadline. DUO says you can change the place or date in Mijn Inburgering up to 1 week before the exam. You can also cancel up to 1 week before and get your money back. After that, assume the rules are stricter unless DUO tells you something different in writing.
If you do not have Mijn Inburgering access, DUO gives form routes. Use the Aanmelding inburgeringsexamen form for A2 or KNM, or the separate ONA portfolio-viewing form for ONA. To change the exam without the portal, send a letter to DUO Servicecentrum Inburgering, Postbus 764, 9700 AT Groningen. DUO must receive the letter 1 week before the exam.
When This Is Not the Right Registration Route
Mijn Inburgering is not the booking screen for every inburgering task. B1 and B2 language exams are Staatsexamen NT2 and use MijnDUO through the NT2 registration pages. MAP and PVT are arranged by your gemeente. A1 basisexamen abroad is a separate route for people outside the Netherlands before an MVV application.
Next Steps After Booking
After you book, check your confirmation, address and email. Then read the exam-day rules so you know which ID to bring and what happens at the exam location. After the exam, use the results timeline to understand when DUO usually sends the result and what to do if you need a resit.
