30-Day Inburgering (Civic Integration) Plan for A1, A2, B1 and B2

If your inburgering (civic integration) exam is about one month away, first confirm the exams and participation steps that apply to you. Try one official practice task and note what you found difficult. Then use this 30-day plan to repeat the tasks in your route: reading, listening, writing, speaking or knowledge of Dutch society.

• Start with the requirements listed in Mijn Inburgering, your PIP, a DUO letter or Naar Nederland. These may include language exams, knowledge exams, work modules or participation steps.
• Use official practice in the first week to learn the task types and instructions.
• Use the 60-minute daily rhythm below, or shorten each block to fit the time you have.
• Ask someone to review at least one speaking answer and one writing answer if your route includes both skills.
• Learn each task pattern. Prepare short answers that you can change for the real question.
• Use the final week for review, computer practice, documents, travel planning and sleep.

Your required exams depend on your situation. For the A1 exam abroad, Naar Nederland lists the exam parts. If you are integrating in the Netherlands, Mijn Inburgering shows your required exams. Under Wet inburgering 2021 (Civic Integration Act 2021), your PIP also lists your learning route and exams. Check these records before choosing study materials.

If your exam name is unclear, check which Dutch exam you need before choosing materials.

Choose tasks from your own exam before you start the calendar. For the A1 civic integration exam abroad, replace each listening and writing task below with KNS, reading or speaking. For A2, use the language exams and Kennis van de Nederlandse Maatschappij (Knowledge of Dutch Society, KNM) listed in Mijn Inburgering. For Staatsexamen Nt2 Programma I (B1) or Programma II (B2), practise reading, listening, writing and speaking in the official Nt2 practice environment. Put any work or participation activities in a separate calendar.

Follow these blocks in order on most days. If you have less time, shorten each block.

1. 10 minutes: Repeat yesterday's mistake words or phrases.
2. 20 minutes: Complete a reading or listening task from your route.
3. 20 minutes: Complete a speaking or writing task from your route.
4. 10 minutes: Record three errors and one task to repeat tomorrow.
5. If you have extra time: Review KNS or KNM, complete a longer task or use official computer practice.

• Day 1: Check your route, level, deadline and required exam parts. Save the official practice links.
• Day 2: Try one official reading or listening practice task. Write down each instruction or answer that you found difficult.
• Day 3: Try one speaking or writing task. Record yourself if you are practising speaking alone.
• Day 4: Make a small word list from your own mistakes, with short example sentences.
• Day 5: Practise one weak task again. Work slowly and leave the timer off.
• Day 6: Do a short mixed session: 15 minutes reading, 15 minutes listening, 15 minutes speaking or writing.
• Day 7: Review the week and choose your two weakest tasks for next week.

Choose the speaking or writing skill in your route. Produce an answer before you compare it with an example.

• Day 8: Choose one speaking or writing task from your route. Produce an answer before checking an example.
• Day 9: Repeat the task with new names, times or details.
• Day 10: Work slowly on another speaking or writing task. Check that each sentence answers the prompt.
• Day 11: Repeat that task with the time shown in the official practice.
• Day 12: Ask someone to review one text or recording if possible.
• Day 13: Repeat the reviewed task and correct the errors that changed your meaning.
• Day 14: Complete one speaking or writing task without stopping. Use the skill that needs more work.

• Day 15: Read one text from your official practice materials. Mark the instruction and the words that lead to each answer.
• Day 16: Listen for the main message first, then listen again for names, times, places and numbers.
• Day 17: Practise KNM or KNS themes if your exam includes them. Explain each answer in simple words.
• Day 18: Do one reading task with a timer. Mark where you found the answer in the text.
• Day 19: Do one listening task with a timer. Afterward, write the key words you missed.
• Day 20: Choose one daily-life topic from official practice. Read or listen, then explain the main point aloud.
• Day 21: Review weak words and repeat the official practice task that felt hardest.

Use the device named on the official practice page. Naar Nederland says A1 practice needs a computer or laptop. The Staatsexamen Nt2 practice environment also works properly only on a computer or laptop. DUO recommends a desktop computer for A2 practice and gives separate display advice for phones and tablets.

• Day 22: Do one longer official practice session on the device named for your route.
• Day 23: Review every result you can check. For an unmarked speaking or writing answer, note what you need someone else to review.
• Day 24: Repeat your weakest skill with a timer.
• Day 25: Practise the second-weakest skill with a timer.
• Day 26: Do a mixed session. End when the practice time limit finishes and mark any unfinished answers.

• Day 27: Make a final list of phrases that you have practised for speaking or writing.
• Day 28: Check the rules for your exam. Confirm the location and travel time, then prepare the ID and documents listed for your route.
• Day 29: Use familiar tasks for a short review.
• Day 30: Rest, prepare your bag and sleep.

• Studying Dutch in general but not practising the exam task.
• Watching many videos without speaking or writing anything yourself.
• Using a phone for practice that the official page says needs a computer or laptop.
• Memorising long answers that you cannot adapt to the real question.
• Ignoring ID, travel, location and exam-day rules until the night before.
• Using a full mock exam every day instead of reviewing mistakes between attempts.
