The A2 Writing exam, called Schrijven, asks for practical Dutch: filling in a form and writing short messages such as e-mails, notes, or a few sentences about daily life. This page gives original sample answers.
Quick Answer: What Does a Good A2 Writing Answer Look Like?
A good A2 writing answer is short, complete, and easy to understand. It answers every bullet in the assignment, uses normal Dutch words, gives concrete details such as a date or reason, and avoids long sentences that become unclear.
Key Points
- The official A2 Schrijven exam is 40 minutes, on paper, with 4 writing assignments.
- Prepare for one form and three short texts, such as e-mails, free writing, or a note.
- Write complete sentences for e-mails, notes, and free-writing tasks.
- On forms, fill every field clearly. Names, dates, postcodes, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses must be readable.
- Use a few safe connectors: en, maar, want, omdat, daarom.
- For self-study, use about 65% as a practice target. The exact public pass mark is not clearly published on the official pages checked here.
How to Use These Samples
Read the assignment first, then look at the sample answer. The goal is not to memorize these sentences. The goal is to copy the habits: answer the task, keep the grammar simple, and make the message easy for another person to understand.
| Task type | Good answer habit |
|---|---|
| Say why you write, give the reason, and ask or propose something clearly. | |
| Form | Fill every field and use short sentences for open questions. |
| Short text | Write at least three complete sentences about the topic. |
| Note | Tell the other person exactly what to do or what happened. |
Sample 1: E-mail to Change an Appointment
Task idea: you cannot meet a classmate tomorrow. Write an e-mail, explain why, and suggest a new time.
Why it works: the answer says the appointment cannot happen, gives a simple reason, proposes a new day and time, and stays polite.
Sample 2: Form with Short Answers
A form often gives points for clear details. Do not leave fields empty unless the form tells you to. For open questions, one clear sentence is usually enough.
| Veld | Voorbeeldantwoord |
|---|---|
| Voor- en achternaam | Maria Costa |
| Adres | Parkstraat 18 |
| Postcode en woonplaats | 3012 AB Rotterdam |
| Telefoonnummer | 06 12345678 |
| maria.costa@example.com | |
| Welke activiteit kiest u? | Taalcafe op dinsdagavond |
| Waarom kiest u deze activiteit? | Ik wil beter Nederlands spreken met buren. |
| Hoe is uw gezondheid? | Mijn gezondheid is goed. |
Why it works: the personal details are complete, the postcode has the Dutch format, and the open answers are short but meaningful.
Sample 3: Short Free Text
Task idea: write at least three sentences about a place you like in your neighbourhood.
Why it works: the text has three complete sentences, a clear topic, a person, a place, and one simple connector.
Sample 4: Note to a Colleague
Task idea: leave a note for a colleague with three things they must do today.
Why it works: the note is direct but friendly. It gives three clear actions and uses simple verbs.
