Staatsexamen NT2 Practice Exams: Official Oefenomgeving and Study Plan

For Staatsexamen NT2, use the official oefenomgeving first. It helps you understand the screen, question style, timing and instructions for Programma I (B1) and Programma II (B2). The best use is simple: practise on a computer, write down what went wrong, study that weak point, and repeat with a new timed round.

• Choose Programma I for B1 practice and Programma II for B2 practice.
• The NT2 exam has four parts: Schrijven, Spreken, Lezen and Luisteren. You register for each part separately.
• All NT2 parts are computer-based, so computer practice matters.
• The official oefenomgeving is especially useful for learning buttons, timing, audio, typing and the exam flow.
• Some separate practice tasks for Spreken and Schrijven can appear in the real exam, but the real exam also has other tasks.
• The real Staatsexamen NT2 is secret. You cannot later see which real questions you answered correctly or incorrectly.
• If you need detailed feedback, ask an NT2 teacher to review your practice work, especially for Schrijven and Spreken.

First confirm the level and the part you are preparing for. Programma I is B1 and is often used for inburgering, mbo-level study or practical work goals. Programma II is B2 and is usually used for hbo, university or higher-level work goals. If your PIP, gemeente, school or DUO told you which level to take, follow that official instruction.

• Open the official practice environment on a laptop or desktop computer.
• Watch the instruction film for the exact part before doing the practice exam.
• Practise one part at a time instead of jumping between all four parts.
• Use headphones for Luisteren and Spreken so the practice feels closer to the exam.
• For Lezen and Schrijven, practise with the Van Dale Pocketwoordenboek Nederlands als tweede taal (NT2) only if you will bring it on exam day.

Do not spend all your time collecting links. One serious practice round teaches more than ten saved websites. Use this cycle for each exam part:

• Round 1: make the official practice task without pausing, as if it is the real exam.
• Notes: write down only practical problems: time pressure, unknown task type, too many unknown words, weak answer structure or stress with the computer.
• Study: spend a few days training one problem, not everything at once.
• Feedback: for Schrijven and Spreken, let a teacher or strong NT2 speaker look at your answer if possible.
• Round 2: repeat a timed task and check whether the same problem is smaller.
• Exam week: practise the login flow, audio check, typing, marking questions and final submit button so the screen feels familiar.

The oefenomgeving is strongest for exam behaviour: how the screen works, how fast you must move, how questions are presented and how much Dutch you need to understand the task. It cannot promise your real exam result. A passed practice task is a good sign, but the real exam can use different texts, recordings and writing or speaking prompts.

• For Luisteren, train reading the question before the audio starts, because you hear the fragment only once.
• For Lezen, practise finding evidence in the text before choosing an answer.
• For Schrijven, practise typing clear, complete answers inside 100 minutes.
• For Spreken, practise giving a direct answer after the beep and stopping when time is finished.
• For all parts, practise finishing. Leaving questions empty because you ran out of time is a preparation problem you can train.

• Practising on a phone even though the real exam is on a computer.
• Memorising practice answers instead of learning the task type.
• Using random PDFs with no official link or date.
• Waiting too long to practise typing Dutch characters and using the exam screen.
• Doing only the strongest part because it feels comfortable.
• Forgetting that Lezen and Schrijven allow only the specific Van Dale NT2 pocket dictionary, while Luisteren and Spreken do not allow a dictionary.
