Official B1 and B2 practice exams are in the online portal
For Staatsexamen NT2 (Dutch as a second language state exam), open the official oefenomgeving (practice environment) (External site, opens in a new tab) on a computer or laptop. Choose Programma I (B1 programme) or Programma II (B2 programme). Both programmes have full practice exams for all four skills. You can also practise separate speaking and writing tasks. Where do you open official practice exams?

What can you practise?
The portal has full practice exams for Lezen (reading), Luisteren (listening), Schrijven (writing) and Spreken (speaking). It also has separate speaking and writing tasks for both programmes.
In February 2026, the exam authority added the 2025 public exams (External site, opens in a new tab) for all four skills in both programmes. It also added extra speaking and writing tasks.
The official practice guidance (External site, opens in a new tab) says these separate tasks can appear in real speaking and writing exams. Those exams also contain other tasks.
Which programme should you choose?
Choose the programme you will take: Programma I for B1 or Programma II for B2. If you need to confirm your level, read the Staatsexamen NT2 programme guide.
If you take Programma I for inburgering (civic integration), read the B1-route (B1 integration route) guide for your PIP (personal integration and participation plan) and other obligations. It covers KNM (knowledge of Dutch society), MAP (labour market and participation module) and PVT (participation declaration programme).
What do you need before your first practice exam?
Use a computer or laptop. The official practice guidance (External site, opens in a new tab) says you cannot practise properly on a smartphone or tablet. All four real exam parts use a computer too.
Watch the instruction video for your skill before you start. You can then use your practice time for the tasks because you already know the login steps and controls.

How do you check your answers?
Open the available beoordelingsmodel (assessment model) from the live portal when you review a practice exam. It gives the answers or scoring guidance for that practice exam.
In February 2026, the exam authority corrected the 2025 Lezen I assessment model (External site, opens in a new tab). A copy downloaded before a correction keeps the earlier answer key. Save the portal link in your study notes and reopen the current model when you check your work.
For the real exam, your points are converted to a score. You need a score of 500 or higher to pass each part (External site, opens in a new tab). For B2 reading, you need about 25 correct answers to pass. Use the assessment model for your chosen practice exam to check that exam’s score.
How do you use a practice result?
Use a full practice exam to find one thing to work on, such as task instructions, time use or answer structure. Then practise that skill before you try another full exam.
Follow these steps for each skill you want to practise:
- Choose Programma I or Programma II.
- Watch the official instruction video for the skill.
- Complete one full public practice exam without pausing.
- Check your work against the available assessment material in the live portal.
- Write down one thing to improve, such as reading the instructions or leaving time to check your answers.
- Practise that skill with separate official speaking or writing tasks, a skill guide, a summary or an original exercise.
- Complete a different full official practice exam for the same programme to check whether you have improved.
Which skill guide fits your result?
For Programma I, use the skill guide you need: B1 reading, B1 listening, B1 speaking or B1 writing.
For Programma II, use B2 reading, B2 listening, B2 speaking or B2 writing.
